Great Plains Communications is looking for a detailed oriented Unified Communications Specialist to join our growing team.
This position is located in and reports to the Elkhorn, NE office.
This position installs and maintains CPE (customer premise equipment). Provides technical resources and expertise to other GPC departments and personnel concerning CPE. Performs project management for Business Solutions.
Duties include:
¨ Maintains a high level of technical proficiency on supported technology.
¨ Prepares bids, ensuring profitability and appropriate equipment selection.
¨ Performs customer site visits and meetings.
¨ Completes initial configuration of equipment prior to installation.
¨ Adheres to Business Solutions and GPC installation standards.
¨ Ensures customer satisfaction with products and installations.
¨ Provides customers training on use of system features.
¨ Conducts post-installation support, ensuring customer satisfaction.
¨ Makes order request to purchasing department.
¨ Ensures coverage and technical expertise is available when absent.
¨ Responds to phone calls and voicemail within 24 hours and emails within 48 hours.
¨ Performs contacts at the request of other GPC personnel.
¨ Schedules and oversees Business Solutions projects.
¨ Executes the project according to the project plan.
¨ Coordinates project requirements and needs with other GPC teams.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
VoIP telephony knowledge
IP networking knowledge
Wireless networking knowledge
General telephony knowledge (analog/POTS)
Low voltage and structured cabling knowledge
General knowledge of security systems, security panels, and access control
Knowledge of telephone equipment
Knowledge of communication system designs and operation
Knowledge in telephone plant and trouble shooting
Knowledge of telephone switching platforms as it relates to a PBX
Knowledge of special access circuits and T-1/ PRI trunks
Knowledge in PBX and/or key systems
Administrative skills
General bookkeeping skills
Computer skills, including Microsoft Windows applications and Internet
General sales skills
Self-starter
Negotiation skills
Communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
Ability to install equipment or data wiring in attics or confined spaces as needed
Ability to climb ladders as needed
Ability to operate a scissor lift occasionally
Ability to install equipment independently on a regular basis
Ability to manage projects independently from start to finish
Ability to travel for work or training as necessary and be away from home for days at a time
2-Year associate degree or equivalent work experience and 3-5 years of work experience desired.
